Gregory Hero

Executive Director & Professor

Center for Real Estate Entrepreneurship

Greg Hero is currently affiliated with George Mason University as a Professor and Executive Director of the Center for Real Estate Entrepreneurship.  For most of his career, he has run large, multi-national, multi-million dollar organizations and to date, he has worked at some of the world’s best consulting organizations - Cap Gemini Ernst and Young, AMS, McKinsey and what-is-now Accenture.  Overall, he has more than two decades of experience in strategy, consulting, and management, from directing global organizations, developing strategies, managing operating units and overseeing client and project implementations.   This combination of strategy, technology and business acumen enables Hero to provide a realistic link between the theoretical visioning and the more practical aspects of business, program and system implementation.  During his career, Hero has worked in many industries, including Real Estate, Technology, Finance, Communications and Government.  Hero offers a unique global perspective drawn from five years of experience living abroad as well as serving multiple industries in the international market.

Hero is actively involved in the overall planning, fund raising, and curriculum development for this new Center.  Course offerings are scheduled to begin Spring 2008, concentrations will be offered by Fall 2008 and research programs are anticipated by early 2009.  Hero began his involvement at GMU in 2005 as a Research Professor and Executive-in-Residence in the School of Public Policy at George Mason University.   Given his extensive experience in strategy and management, Hero helped to bolster GMU’s experience in both the education and research arenas.

Since August of 2003, Greg Hero has provided executive level consulting through his family vehicle – Springvale Partners.  Springvale is a boutique consulting company, and Hero provides executive coaching, strategy, management and technology advice to selected clients in the consulting, communications and government industries.  Over the past few years, projects have included
providing strategy and PMO consulting for a billion dollar internet services company;
analyzing strategic options for a private investment firm in their desired purchase  and roll-up of selected IT services companies;
performing a market analysis of the telecom industry for a niche consulting organization;
developing a software strategy for a large systems integrator; and
analyzing market research for a leading content and media company
