Dr. Sayedul Choudhury
Sayedul H. Choudhury, Ph.D. is a water resources engineer with over fifteen years of experience in watershed management and modeling. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia. For his doctoral dissertation he developed a fate and transport model that linked atmospheric deposition of mercury to surface water contamination. Dr. Choudhury worked for various consulting firms before joining George Mason University and provided technical support to various local government, state and Federal agencies. Dr. Choudhury designed and led the development geographic information systems (GIS) based tools and water resources modeling systems including BASINS for the US Environmental Protection Agency. He has conducted many hydrologic, hydraulic and water quality modeling studies in support of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and the Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) Program. Dr. Choudhury taught many short courses both nationally and internationally.
